Ghana - Financial Resource Mobilisation

Mandate duration: 12 months Start date: As soon as possible

This is a 12-month mandate in Accra, Ghana 

The mandate is under the Equality in Action Volunteer Cooperation Program (VCP), which takes place in 14 countries and 3 regions over a seven-year period (2020-2027). The VCP aims to increase the involvement of local partners in developing countries in inclusive, innovative and sustainable development initiatives that will advance gender equality. Oxfam's role is to support these organizations, working with the most vulnerable and marginalized people, to claim and exercise their rights. Oxfam places the rights of women, girls, and vulnerable and marginalized people at the heart of everything it does. 

Here’s what your daily life will look like:

In close collaboration with Oxfam’s in-country team members, your mandate will be to: 

  • Help Oxfam in Ghana identify/create new funding opportunities
  • Manage partner and OXFAM fundraising activities in Ghana
  • Build capacity of resource mobilization partners
  • Lead the writing of proposals and concept notes to be presented to donors
  • Serve as a focal point for resource mobilization
  • Liaise with programs to develop an environmental scan

For this mandate you must: 

  • Be a Canadian citizen or have permanent resident status in Canada
  • Possess a university degree in Humanities, Business Administration, Economics or other relevant field
  • Have 3-5 years experience in leveraging financial resources, fundraising, or project management
  • Have a good understanding of NGO funding in Africa as well as donors and international development organizations procedures
  • Be fluent in English, spoken and written (French spoken and written an asset)
    Proficiency in Microsoft Suite Office tools
  • Have international development experience (an asset)

What we offer: 

  • Monthly allowance for your current expenses
    • 20% increase in the subsistence allowance for one accompanying child (maximum of 2 children)
    • $1,500 CAD per year/child for school fees
  • A monthly amount for the rent
  • Round trip airfare with 2 checked baggage
    • Return airfare for the accompanying child(s)
  • $200 CAD for additional baggage
  • Advantageous medical insurance for you and the accompanying child(s)
  • A volunteer support program during your term and up to two months after your return to Canada
  • 20 vacation days and other leave
  • Access to various courses (E-Learning, etc.)
